JCU Simulation Experiment

The North Queensland Simulation Park has begun operating from an interim facility in Condon and has staged its first ever experiment in conjunction with James Cook University.

The experiment, which was supported by Cubic, involved a disaster response command and control scenario where JCU students wore heart rate monitors and eye tracking glasses to track their work and results. Trained observers from the Defence Science and Technology Group worked with JCU students to achieve their goals and see how these students operated in that space, as a way to continue educating ourselves at NQ SPARK, and assist teams in improving how they deal get better crises here in North Queensland.

The simulation and training conducted at the interim facility would inform the design and construction of the permanent facility to be built on land adjoining Lavarack Barracks, James Cook University and the Townsville University Hospital.
