Tony Mooney AM FAICD

Tony Mooney was appointed to the board of NQ Spark P/L in 2023. He was a Councillor and Deputy Mayor of the Townsville City Council and was elected Mayor in 1989. He held the position of Mayor of Townsville until 2008. Tony was awarded a Centenary Medal in 2001 and was made a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow in 2006 for his contribution to the community. In 2008 he was made a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. In 2011, Tony was awarded an Order of Australia (AM) for services to local government and the community. Joe joined Townsville City Council in 2024, bringing with him a track record of innovation, improving service and infrastructure delivery and embedding long-term financial sustainability.

Tony served on the boards of numerous government and community entities, including Ergon Energy, Sunwater, LG Super, Townsville Entertainment Centre Board (Chair) and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority.

 

He is currently the Chair of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service and served as a director on the Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN) until 2019 and the Townsville Hospital Foundation. He was recently reappointed as a director of North Queensland Bulk Ports Limited.

 

Tony was Company Secretary and held executive roles for a number of Australian, Singaporean and Mongolian based companies until 2016.
